Building on a relationship formed over the course of many years and companies, the client suggested that Logos were the best team for the job. After re-assessing the risks and documenting the changes, the machine was lifted into position. We do not only care about getting the job done right, but we also care about taking care of our client.
Major capital expenditure comes with many challenges and obstacles, not all of them financial, and among the last of these to overcome is usually logistical.
The move-in of a 4000kg 8m3 piece of sensitive electronics equipment is challenging enough at ground level, even more so being loaded into a 4m high walkway.
The construction and layout of the client's site meant that the most suitable load-in area for this piece of equipment was a walkway between two buildings. Therefore, a machinery movement company with the right people and a rock solid reputation was chosen to carry out this work scope.
Building on a relationship formed over the course of many years and companies, Ralph suggested that Logos were the best team for the job.
Issues Faced
An error in the site as-built drawings meant that the walkway height was 4400mm above the ground, as opposed to the 4200mm stated, meaning that the proposed methodology would not work.
Following a re-assessment of the situation and consultation with the client, the team proposed that the methodology be changed to incorporate a more specialist piece of lifting equipment, which fortunately our trained and experienced team had the necessary qualifications to operate. Following an extensive search, Logos managed to source equipment that could be delivered at short notice, minimising the impact on the tight time schedule. After re-assessing the risks and documenting the changes, the machine was lifted into position.
The crucial error of the site as-built drawings was quickly solved thanks to the flexibility of the Logos team.
Even though the cost of hiring a different piece of equipment did add up to the total cost, this was easily rectified by providing Quittenton cost cuts for his future projects with us due to the highly established and long term relationship developed overtime.
We do not only care about getting the job done right, we also care about taking care of our client.
