Due to the success of this project with no errors, the key benefit was a cost-effective, efficient Logistics solution that ensured the safe transit of goods across the Atlantic.

Background

Balfour Beatty needed to get their high spec ductwork for the vent system shipped from Vermont in the United States to Manchester in the United Kingdom. The main challenges of this project were to coordinate export and import clearance, the air freight activities, collection and delivery, and lifting to the final position on site.

The key driver that encouraged the client to go for Logos Logistics was that Logos handle all aspects of their shipment, from collection in Vermont to final positioning on a rooftop in Manchester.

Furthermore, if the client did not go for Logos, they would have to go for their previous process which would have been needing to place 4 different Purchase Orders and coordinate the activities of 4 suppliers in order to achieve the same end result.

The Logos team worked hard in preparation for this shipment to coordinate the activities of the manufacturer, our freight partners as well as our rigging and lifting team on site to make sure there were no issues. As a result, There were no issues with this shipment project. Logos also always ensure effective and seamless communication throughout the process. Logos spoke to all of the clients stakeholders to ensure that they had the information that they required and that the Logos team took care of any specific needs that they had. This included specialist vehicles in the USA to accommodate the needs of the client's site, de-crating the items prior to arriving on site in Manchester due to space constraints on site, the provision of specialist lifting equipment on site to manoeuvre through the building and into the final position. We were in constant contact with the client’s project director, project manager and site manager.

The biggest impact was that all aspects of this shipment could be handled by Logos and the opportunities for error and miscommunications were eliminated by us taking the lead on all parts of the job.

As a result of the top quality service and expertise we provided, we proved to the client that we are worth investing to do the job by handling their freight for them and therefore allowing them to save money on any potential accidents that would have occurred had they hired less experiences machine movers, or tried to do the shipping themselves, and saving them time and energy that they can focus on other aspects of their business which helps them get their product/service into the market. The client has continued to use Logos on 4 major projects since this Project.
